Chef- Responsible and Challenging Career

Cooking seems to be an easy job but when seen from a distance; but if you want to excel, understanding every flavors and using ingredients in an intelligent manner requires guidance along with personal skills. Challenge and ability to create something unique makes a perfect chef, the highest class of cook. However, a chef has to undertake many other responsibilities from deciding the menu to training the other employees in the kitchen. Here is a short overview on the activities you need to get involved.

Qualifications
To be the chef, you need to have a degree in hospitality. There are a number of institutions ready to offer you the coursework but it is necessary for you to get admitted only in an AICTE approved Hotel Management College in India to have a secured career. If you want to operate a kitchen, maintain and manage it, you got to have a high degree of training and professional experience. This is not only about cooking but also about the ability to handle kitchen equipment, have the skills of knife technique, understanding health and hygiene and so on. The qualification is not all because on-the-job training and apprenticeship is vital to excel in this career. However, you need to complete your 10+2 level schooling to join the course in India and specialize in your area of interest.





Responsibilities
As far as the responsibilities are concerned, these depend on the title they hold; but each chef has loads of duties. As far as the head chef is concerned, he or she is responsible for employee training, menu development and has the final say on assigning duties to the kitchen crew. The chef also needs to make the budgeting and decide upon safety and sanitary requirements. Creative qualities and ability to cook perfectly doesn't make a chef complete because this person must have multitasking abilities, which even include organizing the kitchen to get the best result out of the employees.

Moreover, if a customer complains about any preparation, it is always the chef who needs to face it. Chef makes regulations in the kitchen and solves any problems, which his or her crew faces while preparing any dish. In case of any requirements, like tools and equipment for cooking or any other office supplies, needed to be looked after by the chef. So, the responsibility is huge and if carried properly can bring back lots of praises on job.

Chef is an important part of the hospitality industry especially related to the hotel business. So, if you want to pursue the career, get ready to bear the responsibilities, which come with challenge and encouragement.
